Estelle Press
Instructor, Nursing
Is a candidate for her Ed.D. in Health Education from the Teacher’s College at Columbia University. Her doctoral work is focused on health disparities in the areas of maternal-child and women’s health. Her primary research interest focuses on the low prevalence of breastfeeding initiation and continuation rates in low-income women. Ms. Press has been a nurse-midwife for over 20 years. She was the Associate Director of Midwifery at Bellevue Hospital and has taught maternal-child and obstetrical nursing for many years. She was a full-time faculty and Coordinator of the Maternal Child Graduate Clinical Specialist Program at the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing of the City University of New York. Ms. Press has also worked as the Northeast Regional Nurse Consultant for the Nurse-Family Partnership National Service Office, an evidence-based nurse home visitation program that provides comprehensive maternal and child care to low income, at-risk, first-time mothers. She has a lifelong commitment to improving the lives of women and children.
