Sara Rose Guariglia
Research Associate, Biology
Is the new Advanced Imaging Facility Manager. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Saint Francis College, her Master’s degree in Biology from New York University and was awarded a NYS Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities to complete her dissertation work at the NYS Institute for Basic Research for her Ph.D. in Biology from the CUNY Graduate Center. After completing her Ph.D., she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and was awarded a Ruth Kisrshstein Grant for postdoctoral studies. Dr. Guariglia has extensive experience in electron microscopy and has taught biology and chemistry at the College of Staten Island, New York University and in a local high school while pursuing her graduate studies. She has been awarded two grants, one from the Toshiba America Foundation and the CUNY Graduate Center for her research and has been named in Who’s Who of America’s Best Teachers on several occasions. She is currently investigating the mechanisms of gender specific aberrant neurodevelopment in response to chlorination byproduct exposure.
